Abstract
This report summarizes dam safety assessments of impoundments at Tri-State Escalante Generating Station. The purpose of each assessment is to evaluate the structural integrity of the impoundments and provide summaries and recommendations based on engineering judgment. Assessments are based on available information provided by others and visual inspection of facilities by GEI personnel. This report presents the results of a specific site assessment of the impoundments at the Tri- State Escalante Generating Station near Prewitt, New Mexico. This report presents information for the Emergency Scrubber Pond, North and South Bottom Ash Ponds, and Evaporation Ponds 1A through 5. These impoundments were assessed because their failure may result in significant economic loss, environmental damage, disruption of lifeline facilities or loss of life (significant or high hazard according to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classification).
