Abstract
A survey was conducted of rural farmers, rural nonfarmers, urban and suburban residents to determine attitudes toward land application of sludge. After a thorough educational meeting devoted to a discussion of benefits and risks in sludge use, the groups were again quizzed and the answers compared to assess the effectiveness of the educational program. It was found that farmers who had used sludge, or were acquainted with its use, were more amenable to its use than those with no prior experience with it.
