Abstract |
A sampling and analysis program was conducted to determine the levels of acrylamide in air, water, soil, and sediment around five industrial sites. The industrial sites included monomer producers, polymer producers, and polymer users. Air was collected at the plant perimeters using Chromosorb 101 adsorption tubes. Soil samples were collected at the air sampling stations. Water and sediment samples were taken upstream and downstream and at the plant discharge. No acrylamide was found in any of the air, soil, or sediment samples. Acrylamide was found in only one water sample. The level was 1,500 ppb. The identification of acrylamide was confirmed by GC/MS. |
