Abstract |
Dow Corning Corporation submitted the results of a 28-day inhalation study of trimethoxysilane (CAS No. 2487-90-3) vapor. This study showed that repeated exposure to rats to trimethoxysilane vapor concentrations of 5 and 10 ppm produced a high incidence of mortality and lung injury in the form of ateleclasis and inflammatory change. Rats exposed to 0.5 ppm had only reduced food intake and reduced body weight gain. Union Carbide Corporation has recently undertaken studies on the acute inhalation toxicity of trimethoxysilane vapor, and this information is herewith submitted as a supplemental report to Dow Corning's 1980 submission. |
