Abstract
This document provides a quantitative assessment of the results of the High Altitude Emission Test Program. The primary objectives of this program were twofold. First, to determine the impact of a series of experimental procedures on vehicular exhaust emissions, and second, to identify those specific procedures that could prove cost effective in reducing vehicular emissions for the Denver area. The basic experiments involved idle inspection and maintenance, mandatory engine maintenance, high altitude engine adjustment, sea level retrofit, high altitude retrofit, and engine deterioration.
