Abstract
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) contracted CH2M HILL to prepare the remedial design (RD) for the South Minneapolis Residential Soil Contamination Site (SMRSCS). The work will be completed in accordance with the revised Work Plan dated July 28, 2008, and the Remedial Design/Remedial Action (RD/RA) Handbook. The SMRSCS is located in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota (Figure 1-1). The SMRSCS consists of the residential properties within the approximate 3/4-mile radius from the CMC Heartland Lite Yard (Lite Yard) property. An aerial dispersion model performed by USEPA serves as the boundary for the SMRSCS. Figure 1-2 illustrates the residential properties within the SMRSCS as well as properties of other use categories. The SMRSCS encompasses residential, industrial, commercial, and municipal properties, approximately 2 miles southeast of downtown Minneapolis.
