Abstract
Disposal of sugar refining wastes in the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota represents a considerable problem. The present plants produce wastes with a BOD on the order of 1-2 million people equivalents annually. Their disposal in water is now severely curtailed and will be completely banned in the near future. The object of these experiments was to determine the volumes of water which might be disposed of by soil spreading, the effects of these effluents on soil conditions and fertility, and the most feasible cropping to be used on such irrigated lands.
