Abstract
Inclusion for seven days of ethylenediamine in the diet of rats resulted in statistically significant dosage-related reductions of body weight in both sexes, and decreases in liver weight per as and in liver weight/body weight ratios. Kidney weight/body weight ratios were significantly increased. Tubular nephrosis was found in both sexes at the two highest dosage levels. No significant effects in either sex were observed at 0.20 gm/kg/day. The ratio of single peroral LD50/MiE vas 2.24, indicating a moderate degree of chronicity. The median predicted minimum effect dosage level for 90-day rat feeding is 0.167 ge/kg; that for two years is 0.093 p/kg (Weil et al., Tox. Appl. Pharmacol 14, 426-431, 1969).
