Abstract
Monoglyme (ethylene glycol dimethyl ether) and diglyme (diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) are sampled from work-place air by means of a badge-type diffusion monitor containing activated carbon. The carbon is removed from the badge, and the glyme and diglyme are desorbed with carbon disulfide. The CS2 solution is analyzed by GC against an accurately prepared standard containing both analytes. The results are then converted to the time - weighted - average (TWA) of each analyte in terms of ppm. (v/v). This is possible because the manufacturer of the sampling badges has experimentally determined the sampling rate in terms of ml./min. of air for each compound.
