Abstract
This decision document presents the Selected Remedy for the Gulf States Utilities-North Ryan Street Site (GSU), in Lake Charles, Louisiana, which was chosen in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA), 42 USCSC 9601 et seq., as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA), and, to the extent practicable, the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP), 40 CFR Part 300 et seq., as amended. This decision is based on the Administrative Record, which has been developed in accordance with Section 113 (k) of CERCLA, and which is available for review at the Central Calcasieu Parish Library, 301 West Claude Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana and at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 Office in Dallas, Texas. This Selected Remedy was proposed for public comment on June 9, 2000. A formal public meeting was held on July 6, 2000. After responding to comments, EPA selected this remedial action. The State of Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) concurs with the Selected Remedy.
