Abstract
Findings from a BASF study are compared to studies conducted by Union Carbide regarding the effects of exposure of rats to air concentrations of ethyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, and butyl acrylate. Prolonged exposure of rats (2 years) to 135 ppm of methyl or butyl acrylate produced corneal damage; exposure to 45 ppm of methyl acrylate also had this effect. No corneal injury was noted with exposure to 15 ppm methyl acrylate, 75 ppm ethyl acrylate, or 45 ppm butyl acrylate. Supporting data are not provided.
