Abstract
The report is the fourth of a sequence of studies using optimization and simulation techniques to analyze a variety of metropolitan water resource problems. The first chapter discusses some linear or separable programming models for defining and analyzing alternative investment and operating policies for regulating and allocating metropolitan surface water supplies and for the reduction of flood damages. The second chapter reviews a variety of surface water quality management models for rivers, lakes and estuaries. The third and final chapter is a state-of-the-art paper on models for the control of flood flows and reduction of flood damages. (Author)
