Abstract
Natural scientists, engineers, economists, political scientists, and policy analysis view the process of health, safety, and environmental standard setting from diverse analytical perspectives. This report describes these five perspectives; indicates why, how, and when each is useful; and suggests a decomposition of appropriate roles in the standard-setting process for scientists and analysis with different interests and skills.
