U.S. EPA in its 2003 Framework for Cumulative Risk Assessment, defines cumulative risk assessment as the evaluation of risks from exposures to multiple chemicals and other stressors, possibly including multiple exposure routes and times and multiple health endpoints. In addition, cumulative risk assessment has a population focus rather than a source-to-receptor focus. U.S. EPA has published several general and Program Office-specific guidance documents relating to chemical mixture risk assessment.
