| Abstract |
A symposium was organized by the committee to focus on whether a sufficient knowledge base exists or enough is known to warrant greater attention, in both the scientific and policy-making communities, to the implications of multimedia transfers. There were four sessions: (1) an examination of the occurrence and extent of multimedia transfers and the basic ecologic principles that describe them; (2) methods available for the assessment of multimedia transport of pollutants; (3) legal, political, and institution considerations relevant to the multimedia approach; and (4) an overall discussion of multimedia assessment and regulations. |
