Abstract
Children are more vulnerable to environmental health hazards than the general population. Recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports have indicated that children face significant and unique threats from such hazards. These hazards range from air pollution and lead-based paint in older homes to treatment-resistant microbes in drinking water and industrial chemicals. During this review, we therefore sought to determine: What is EPA's agenda for fostering childrens health and how does the Office of Children's Health Protection (OCHP) ensure its achievement, What are the impediments to OCHP ensuring the achievement of the Agency's National Agenda to Protect Children's Health From Environmental Threats, and How well does OCHP plan and coordinate children's health activities within the Agency.
