Abstract
EPA has defined ecological risk assessment as 'a process that evaluates the likelihood that adverse ecological effects that may occur or are occurring as a result of exposure to one or more stressors' (U.S. EPA, 1998b). It is an approach to impact assessment that involves explicity evaluation of the data, assumptions, and uncertainties associated with an impact analysis. Risk assessments range in level of analysis and data requirements, depending on management goals, data availability, and stakeholder concerns.
