| Abstract | The study included two visits to Colbert and Lauderdale Counties as well as interviews with county, municipal, and industrial personnel. The study found that both counties face solid waste disposal problems; new waste disposal capacity is needed; citizens oppose new landfills; and per ton disposal costs are increasing rapidly. Resource recovery alternatives, however, are feasible for both counties. Preliminary findings are outlined in this report. |
