Abstract
As alarming or unlikely as these possibilities may sound, proactive U.S. corporations are systematically looking at the risks that energy impacts may present for their businesses in new ways. They are doing this to successfully manage energy-related risks despite deep uncertainty about the future. These companies are valuing energy very differently today than they did 20 years ago. Why the change. Senior executives realize that, given the dynamics of today's world, energy has emerged as a greater risk to the health of their business than in the past. Recently, a group of senior corporate executives from a variety of manufacturing and commercial companies worked with Global Business Network (GBN) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR (Trade Name) Program to evaluate how the world energy scene might impact their businesses through 2020.
