Abstract |
The effects of long chain, turbulent drag reducing polymers on oil-in-water emulsions were studied using the Coulter Counter. Both 50 ppm polyethylene oxide and 500 ppm Separan MGL proved to reduce particle counts while 500 ppm polyethylene oxide had the adverse effect of increasing the density. Solutions of 4.4% polyisobutylene in cetane and 50 ppm Separan MGL had no noticeable effect on the size distribution. The inflection point diameter could not be found in each emulsion. Therefore it was recommended that future testing be continued investigating smaller particles through the use of a smaller (30 micron) aperture tube. (Author) |
