Abstract
The manual is intended to acquaint Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) personnel with the well-established inspection and wastwater sampling procedures which have been used in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program for many years. The information presented will guide the POTW inspector by providing a framework for conducting the inspections and wastewater sampling. The manual assumes that the POTW inspector has a basic knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies, as well as all applicable Federal, state, and local pretreatment requirements. The manual is also intended to assist the POTW's legal counsel and lab personnel as a reference for the legal and technical aspects of pretreatment inspections and sampling activities.
