Abstract
A method has been developed for analyzing 2,4,7-Trinitrofluroen-9-one (TNF) emission from electrophotographic printers and copiers. This method evaluates air, swipe, and bulk samples which have been extracted in tetrahydrofuran. Analysis is performed by High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) using a UV Detector. Air particulate samples are collected on 0.8 micron silver membrane filters. The air sampling method and analysis allows the detection of 100 nanograms of TNF in one cubic meter of air with an equivalent sensitivity of 0.5 nanograms per injection.
