Abstract | A novel process was tested for oxidizing organic materials, and wastes including the so-called 'refractories' and pesticides. Bromine and water reacted with such materials at 250 to 300C to chiefly form CO2 and aqueous HBr. The HBr solution was electrolyzed at ambient conditions, in a membraneless cell, to produce hydrogen and to regenerate bromine for recycling. |
