Abstract
The Miami County Incinerator site is in Concord Township, Ohio. The site consists of the incinerator building and adjacent property, including a former scrubber wastewater lagoon, an ash disposal pit, an ash pile, a liquid disposal area, and trench and fill landfill areas north and south of the Eldean Tributary. Operations began in 1968, when large quantities of spent solvents, soils, and drummed and bulk industrial sludges were accepted for disposal. After closure of the facility in 1983, the Ohio EPA found detectable levels of chlorinated hydrocarbons in drinking water wells near the site. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil and ground water are VOCs including PCE, toluene, and TCE; other organics including PCBs, PAHs, dioxin, and pesticides; and metals including lead. The selected remedial actions for the site are included.
