Abstract
Since 1983 the Chesapeake Bay Program has worked with federal, state and local governments; industry; farmers; environmentalists; conservation associations; citizen groups and interested individuals to restore the Bays water quality by reducing pollution. Clearly, significant progress has been made, but the job is not finished. With the signing of the new Bay agreement, Chesapeake 2000, Bay Program partners have gained a powerful new tool to further the restoration effort. In Chesapeake 2000, Bay Program partners pledged to continue to restore, enhance and protect the Bays living resources and their habitats.
