Abstract
This Record of Decision (ROD) documents the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's selection of a remedy for the Tri-Cities Barrel Superfund Site (the 'Site'), which is chosen in accordance with the requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, as amended (CERCLA), 42 U.S.C. Section 9601 et seq. and the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan, 40 CFR Part 300. This decision document explains the factual and legal basis for selecting the remedy for the Site. The attached index identifies the items that comprise the Administrative Record upon which the selection of the remedy is based. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation was consulted on the planned remedy In accordance with CERCLA Section 121 (f), 42 U.S.C. Section 9621 (f), and it concurs with the selected remedy. Actual or threatened releases of hazardous substances from the Site, if not addressed by implementing the response action selected in this ROD, may present an imminent and substantial endangerment to public health, welfare, or the environment. Descriptions of the selected remedies are given.
