Abstract
Selexol (trademark) was evaluated for neurobehavioral effects in male Fischer 344 rats at oral dose levels of 1, 0.1, and 0.01 mL/kg (single dose) and 0.5, 0.25, and 0.1 mL/kg (doses on each of five consecutive days). Each dose group contained four animals. In addition, for both the single dose and repeated sets of groups, a vehicle control group received 1 mL/kg of physiological saline on an identical schedule. All animals were evaluated for motor and sensory reflexes and (by an automated testing system) for impairment of learning and performance of a simple signaled response (SR) motor function. Signs similar to those seen in earlier Selexol studies were observed in the neuromuscular screen.
