Abstract
The biological influences of cadmium have been reviewed by Underwood and Friberg et al. From an environmental point of view. The metal is one of the most dangerous of the atmospheric pollutants. The data reported here for cadmium levels in urine and scrum indicate a high potential for the direct application of atomic absorption spectrometry in conjunction with the graphite tube furnace (HGA) and a deuterium arc background corrector to biological samples. Its sensitivity, simplicity and speed make this procedure by far superior to other previously reported analytical techniques for the determination of this element.
