Abstract
EPA Region 10 has developed interest in the possibility of enhancing wetland habitat in the Pacific Northwest by identifying sites where it may be possible to restore tidal influence to diked agricultural lands within the estuaries of Oregon and Washington. The study was undertaken as the first step in identifying candidate wetland restoration sites in Washington and Oregon. The objective of this first step is to identify areas which (1) once were estuarine wetlands but are not now functioning as such due to dike construction, (2) are greater than 5 acres in size, and (3) may be suitable for restoration.
