Abstract
This report discusses the flow of hydrocarbon vapors in the backfill soil surrounding underground storage tanks. It explains how sensors can detect high-vapor concentrations and diffusion coefficients in gasolines that are embedded in certain types of backfill to reveal leaks before substances enter groundwater.
