Abstract
As was previously reported in our TSCA Section 8(e) Notifications of Substantial Risk of December 27, 1996, guinea pig maximization studies were conducted to determine the dermal sensitization potential of DOW CORNING(reg.) 3-8015 Int (Platinum 2) and DOW CORNING(reg.) 2-0707 Int (Platinum 4). In both studies, all positive control animals exhibited a positive reaction at the DNCB challenge control site with a severity index of 3.40 and no skin sensitization response was observed in the vehicle control animals. DOW CORNING(reg.) 3-8015 Int (Platinum 2) gave a positive response with an incidence and severity of 50% and 1.10, respectively, at the forty-eight hour scoring interval following the second challenge dose. DOW CORNING(reg.) 2-0707 Int (Platinum 4) gave a positive response with an incidence and severity of 55% and 1.10, respectively, at the forty-eight hour scoring interval following the second challenge dose.
