Abstract
The two objectives of the survey are to describe the development of the common law riparian doctrine of New Hampshire and to examine water resources actions of recent years. Six aspects of the New Hampshire riparian doctrine are discussed: the general extent of the riparian right, the riparian owner, riparian land, doctrinal development, surface waters, and groundwaters. Various New Hampshire supreme court decisions bearing on these aspects are analyzed in depth. The recent water resources actions discussed include: Nuisance abatement; the public trust doctrine; private exercise of eminent domain; and mandamus. New Hampshire supreme court decisions pertaining to these actions are examined. (WRSIC abstract)
