| Abstract |
A prototype information network for retrieval and dissemination of WRSIC's water resources research information has been evaluated. The network consists of three information processing centers located at the University of Wisconsin, Cornell University and North Carolina State University. Each information processing center served as a focal point for a multi-state region to process users requests for bibliographic information available on the WRSIC data base. These centers are linked via remote terminal to computer facilities at the University of Oklahoma and at Oklahoma State University. The University of Oklahoma Research Institute furnished technical support and functioned as scheduler, coordinator and evaluator of the network operations. Approximately 50% of the users were contacted and questioned for their evaluation of the system. The majority of users were satisfied with the results of their search, and nearly all would use the system again if the need arose. |
