Abstract
The report gives results of a study to determine the feasibility, safety, and cost of methods to control the emission of hydrocarbon vapor during the loading of gasoline barges. Approximately 4 lb of hydrocarbons are emitted per 1000 gal. of gasoline loaded; annually about 1 million lb of hydrocarbons may be emitted at a terminal pumping 6 million barrels of gasoline. Vapor control techniques evaluated included carbon adsorption, refrigeration, and thermal incineration.
