Abstract |
This document presents the findings of an extensive study of the steam electric power generating point source category for the purpose of developing effluent limitations, guidelines, standards of performance for new sources, and pretreatment standards for the industry. The standards of performance for new sources contained herein set forth the degree of effluent reduction which is achievable through the application of the 'best available demonstrated control technology, process, operating methods, or other alternatives'. This report contains findings, conclusions and recommendations on control and treatment technology relating to chemical wastes and thermal discharges from steam electric powerplants. Supporting data (including cost estimates) and rationale for development of the effuent limitations, guidelines and standards of performance are contained herein. |
