| Abstract |
For the purpose of establishing effluent limitations guidelines and standards of performance for the ferroalloys industry, the industry has been categorized on the basis of the types of furnaces, air pollution control equipment installed, and water uses. The categories are as follows: Open electric furnaces with wet air pollution control devices; covered electric furnaces and other smelting operations with wet air pollution control devices; and, slag processing. The new source performance standards are based upon the best available demonstrated control technology, process, operating methods, or other alternatives which are applicable to new sources. Cost are given for the various levels of treatment identified for each category and for the attainment of the suggested effluent guidelines and new source performance standards. |
