Abstract |
The report presents an evaluation of various methods of dissipating waste heat from thermal power plants near Lake Michigan. The feasibility of the cooling methods are considered from both an engineering and economic standpoint. It must be emphasized at the outset that the following analyses are directed towards determining the feasibility of various cooling methods; no attempt is made to optimize any particular plant or site. In addition to determining the engineering and economic feasibility of cooling devices; the effect of their operation on the environment is examined. |
