Abstract
This document describes the air quality modeling performed by EPA in support of the most recent ozone designations process. A national scale air quality modeling analysis was performed to estimate the impact of county specific anthropogenic NOX and VOC emissions on model estimated ozone concentrations. Source contribution is estimated for the primary and secondary forms of the ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). Air quality impacts are estimated with the Comprehensive Air Quality Model with Extensions (CAMx) model. CAMx simulates the numerous physical and chemical processes involved in the formation, transport, and destruction of ozone, particulate matter and air toxics. In addition to the CAMx model, the modeling platform includes the emissions, meteorology, and initial and boundary condition data which are inputs to this model.
