Abstract
The report describes the system constructed for a methanol-fueled light-duty engine. It consists of a steam-heated methanol boiler, a gas superheater, and a platinum-catalyzed dissociation element. The product gas from the system was used to start and idle a test engine that had been cooled to 43 F. The report also includes the dissociator element specifications, hydrogen content determination, and test engine specifications.
