Abstract
The user's manual explains the general operation of the XATEF DBMS. It provides the necessary instructions needed to access, update, and report data base cross-reference and air toxic emission factor information. As with any computer program the user may need some practice to become familiar with all aspects of the system. After a few sessions the user will understand the data base contents and the various procedures for retrieving information. The system displays emission factor and cross-reference information in the form of output tables on the computer screen, printer, or disk file. Output table specifications consist of descriptive information for pollutants, SICs, SCCs, industrial processes, and emission sources. Authorized users may add, edit, and delete information in the data base. The data files use a standard format and might be altered by many programs currently available; however, the system is equipped to detect and prevent the use of data files modified externally. The report describes the components of the emission factor records and explains the uses and shortcomings of the information.
