Abstract
The Leeds Metal Site was proposed for the National Priorities List (NPL) on September 16, 2011; the listing was finalized on September 18, 2012. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) is required by Congress to conduct public health activities on all sites proposed for the NPL. This public health assessment evaluates whether and in what ways the Leeds Metal Site could affect public health. ATSDR reviewed available environmental data, ways in which people could come in contact with contaminants from the site, and community health concerns to determine whether adverse health effects are possible as a result of contamination on and near the site. Public Comment ATSDR released a draft of this PHA for public comment on November 28, 2012. The PHA was available for public review and comment at the Leeds Town Office in Leeds, Maine. The document was also available for viewing or downloading from the ATSDR web site. The public comment period was open from November 28, 2012 through January 28, 2013.
