Abstract
This first technical update to the Chesapeake Bay Basin Toxics Loading and Release Inventory responds to the Chesapeake Executive Council Directive to develop an initial baseline inventory of toxics loading and release sources by facility (Chesapeake Executive Council, 1993). It replaces Appendix Table 11 in the 'Chesapeake Bay Basin Toxics Loading and Release Inventory' (Chesapeake Bay Program, 1994) by providing an expanded listing of chemical load estimates at the facility level. Consequently, the technical update summarizes the new and expanded point source loading information and provides replacements originally published in the 'Chesapeake Bay Basin Toxics Loading and Release Inventory.' Future technical updates will be published as additional and relevant information becomes available on the various sources of chemical contaminant loadings and releases within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Technical updates describing more recent estimates for fall line loadings, urban/suburban stormwater, and 1992 industry-reported releases to air, water and land are planned to be published over the next year.
