Abstract |
This report is the product of a cooperative effort between the Washington Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection Agency Region 10 and EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD). The Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) was initiated by ORD to estimate the current status and trends of the nation's ecological resources and anthropogenic influences. Two major features of EMAP are: the use of ecological indicators, and the probability-based selection of sample sites. Regional EMAP (R-EMAP) uses EMAP's indicator concepts and statistical design, and applies them to projects of smaller geographic scale and time frames. This report summarizes data collected by Ecology in the upper Chehalis basin of Washington as part of R-EMAP. It describes the condition of 2nd order streams in the upper Chehalis basin using water column chemistry, macroinvertebrate and fish assemblages, and physical habitat indicators. |
