| Abstract |
The report describes the effect of equipment maintenance and age on emissions from single- and dual-absorption sulfuric acid plants, using both elemental sulfur and recycled sulfur-containing acid sludge feedstock. A description is included of the critical equipment, manufacturer's recommended maintenance data, and malfunction history from 20 sulfuric acid plants. From this data, a recommended preventive maintenance program is provided for the critical equipment. A checklist is provided for an inspector to use in evaluating maintenance in an operating plant. |
