Abstract
Skin sensitization potential of 1,2- butylene oxide was evaluated in 10 male Hartley albino guinea pigs exposed to 0.1 ml of undiluted test compound 4 times over a 7 day period, followed 2 weeks later by a single challenge exposure. Treatment did not produce signs of sensitization in any of the guinea pigs, whereas 9 of 10 guinea pigs exposed to a positive control solution (0.1 ml of DER 331) exhibited a positive response indicative of sensitization. The authors concluded that the test compound was not a potential human skin sensitizer.
