Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present an allocation scheme for assigning non-metal air emissions (i.e., CO2, SO2, HCI, NOx dioxins/furans, CO and PM) from combustion to constituents of municipal solid waste (MSW). The allocation scheme will be used to model emissions from mixed waste as a function of the composition of waste, and to investigate the effect of including or excluding a waste constituent from the waste mix to be combusted. Ultimate analysis data are used to derive the chemical formula of a waste constituent. The chemical formula is used in a stoichiometric equation for combustion to calculate emissions from the waste constituent.
