Abstract
The paper discusses the assessment of the performance of full-scale environmental chambers using an independently measured emission source. The paper describes a method and procedure to conduct such a test in which an electronic balance is used to measure the emission rate of a reference source of a volatile organic compound, independent of the environmental chamber method. Results from three full-scale environmental chambers are compared and discussed. Findings from this study are useful for developing a standard method for using full-scale environmental chambers to determine volatile organic compound emission rates of building materials and furnishings.
