Abstract |
It has been conjectured that both blood-lead and environmental-lead levels are increased during summer months. The temporal variation may result from either altered human physiology or higher levels of lead exposure during the summer months. There were two primary objectives of this study: determine the extent to which blood-lead levels recorded in the study conducted at the Brigham and Women's Hospital exhibit seasonal variation and determine if any existing seasonal trends in blood-lead levels are correlated with seasonal trends in environmental levels. This report examines temporal variation in blood- and environmental-lead levels in data observed on 249 children sampled in Boston at the Brigham and Women's Hospital between 1979 and 1983. |
