Abstract
The acute toxicity of the compound administered orally to male and female bobwhite was evaluated. Male and female bobwhite (6/sex/dose group) were given a single oral dose of the compound prepared in an aqueous suspension. The nominal dose levels were 0, 125, 250, 500, 1000, or 2000 mg/kg. The animals were observed for 14 days. All animals had loose feces after dosing, but had returned to normal by Test Day 1. Some birds at doses 2250 mg/kg had recurrent loose feces through Day 4, but then returned to normal for the remainder of the study. There were no deaths during the study; two birds in the 1000-mg/kg group were observed with lethargy on Test Days 1, 2, and 3; then returned to normal by the end of Test Day 3. One bird at 1000 mg/kg was lethargic on Day 3 of the study until termination. Body weights of the birds were similar at all dose levels relative to the controls at study termination. The median lethal dose of the compound when administered orally to male and female bobwhite is estimated to be >2000 mg/kg.
