Abstract | This study evaluated the bioconcentration potential of dimethylcyclosiloxane fluid in rainbow trout. The trout were exposed to an average water concentration of 5.8 ppb for 28 days. Fish were removed periodically and body burdens of dimethylcyclosiloxane were determined through day 10 and on days 14, 21, and 28. The mean levels of dimethylcyclosiloxane in whole fish increased through day 10, subsequent determinations indicated that steady state had been achieved. Mean dimethylcyclosiloxane levels in the trout between days 10 and 28 were 19500 ppb, with a steady state bioconcentration factor of about 3300. |
